Boasting the best artwork Belize has to offer! Celebrating over 18yrs of art along the historic Placencia Village sidewalk. Before the mid 80s, the narrow ribbon of conch shell grounded ... moreconcrete that winds its way along one of Belize’s most beautiful beaches, was the only way to deliver goods to fishing folk and their families living in Placencia Village. The wheelbarrow or two that fetched essentials from arriving boats at the harbour may serve different purposes today. Still, they share the same picturesque route with strolling and frolicking feet belonging to children, lovers, friends (and frenemies), as well as the four-legged critters.

Over 18 years ago, a group of talented artists who formed the Placencia Peninsula Arts Association (PPAA) discovered how to make this charming walkway explode with color while highlighting local talents, and every February that vision continues to be realized.

Thanks to the efforts of the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association who have been organizing the annual Placencia Sidewalk Art Festival since the PPAA disbanded, as well as generous sponsors, the event has grown to see a diverse group of artists representing the entire country of Belize.

About Queen of the Bay 2023 The Queen of the Bay pageant is an annual event held in Belize City, Belize. It is one of the most popular pageants in the country and is a major cultural ... moreevent. The pageant is held on the eve of the Battle of St. George's Caye, which is a national holiday in Belize. The pageant is open to young women from all over Belize. The contestants compete in various events, including evening gowns, talent, and interviews. The winner of the pageant is crowned Queen of the Bay and becomes an ambassador for Belize. She also receives a number of prizes, including scholarship money and a year's supply of cosmetics. The Queen of the Bay pageant is a major fundraiser for the Belize Cancer Society. The proceeds from the pageant go towards supporting cancer research and treatment in Belize. The first Queen of the Bay pageant was held in 1946. The winner of that pageant was Rita Lewis. The pageant has been held yearly since then, except for a brief hiatus during the 1970s. The Queen of the Bay pageant is a beloved tradition in Belize. It is a time for the country to unite and celebrate its culture and heritage. The pageant is also a reminder of the importance of fighting cancer.
