I was born in the town of San Ignacio in the western district of Cayo, Belize.  The second of 5 kids.  I first started to work as a zookeeper at the Belize Zoo.  Working there gave me the opportunity to interact a lot with people from various countries.  Many times, I was chosen to do private tours at the Zoo; I then moved to Maya Mountain Lodge where I started as an apprenticed guide working and learning from an excellent guide who taught me great things about our wonderful jewel of Belize.  This was the institution that truly got me hooked on the outdoors, this alone with my avid love of reading about natural histories and other magazines.

This experience motivated me to further my studies in the Tourism Industry.  So, I got enrolled in the Tour guide course program where I dedicated to working for what I really dreamt of. As Andy Biersack once said, “stand up for what you believe in… even if you’re standing alone.”  So, this quote always encouraged me to always stand alone with the help of the almighty who guides me daily.

In February 2003 I was invited to work at Chaa Creek Inland Expeditions the company that it’s service is one of the most elite resorts in the country of Belize.  I found a wonderful 6 years’ span of my life working there.  At Chaa Creek Inland Expedition I worked as a Naturalist guide, horseback riding.  While at Chaa Creek I was invited of the few chosen to take the Actun Tunichil Mucknal Course where I was successful and where I found myself adventuring as a freelance guide for some years.

In the attempt for me to touch lives positively in all aspects to make a difference in the world.  I created a company I have called Jam Jam Tours.  This endeavor, as I like to be active and on the go.  My goal is to educate locals and internationals creating a fun experience.

Inspiration is very important to me.  In my studies of Tourism, I was inspired by some great people.  My dad who passed away and Luis Godoy.  These two men touched my life directly; challenging my thinking about my passion: live once enjoy life to the fullest always aiming for what you truly want in life no matter what the challenges may be.  So, saying that my philosophy is we live once in this life and we must live it our fullest experiencing the wonders God created.

Sincerely,

JAM JAM

Actun Tunichil Muknal (the Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre), also known locally as ATM, is a cave in Belize, near San Ignacio, Cayo District, notable as a Maya archaeological site that ... moreincludes skeletons, ceramics, and stoneware. There are several areas of skeletal remains in the main chamber. The best-known is “The Crystal Maiden”, the skeleton of an adolescent (now thought to be a teenage boy), possibly a sacrifice victim, whose bones have been calcified to a sparkling, crystallized appearance. The ceramics at the site are significant partly because they are marked with “kill holes”, which indicate that they were used for ceremonial purposes. Many of the Maya artifacts and remains are completely calcified to the cave floor. One artifact, named the “Monkey Pot”, is one of just four of its type found in Central America. The Maya also modified cave formations here, in some instances to create altars for the offerings, in others to create silhouettes of faces and animals or to project a shadow image into the cave. The cave is extensively decorated with cave formations in the upper passages.
