Your adventure begins with a safety briefing from the first mate. Next, you will be secured in a life jacket and safety harness as you are instructed on how and when to move to the flight deck. After the chute is launched the first mate will attach the passenger bar to the chute and call you to the deck. You will stand as your harness is attached to the bar and then move forward and sit with your legs in front of you. And finally, …you’re flying! You will ascend slowly and smoothly as the captain guides you over the beautiful turquoise waters inside the barrier reef. Our certified crew has been trained by US experts to meet all US safety standards.

Sit back and relax, you will have approximately 12-15 minutes to enjoy the sights of San Pedro, the reef, and the surrounding beauty of Ambergris Caye. Take a selfie, make a video–you decide, it’s your adventure.

As you return to the boat you will receive instructions from the first mate. He will ask you to reach up and grab the bar above your head and extend your legs into a standing position. Following his directions will ensure you nail your landing.

Six miles north of San Pedro Town in North Ambergris Caye, you will find one of the most beautiful snorkel sites known as Mexico Rocks & Tres Cocos. Unlike many of the snorkeling ... morespots in Belize that are right on the barrier reef, Mexico Rocks & Tres Cocos is a star coral patch that is located in the shallow waters midway between the great barrier reef and the island of Ambergris Caye.

Mexico Rocks are known for many conches, banded shrimps, arrow crabs, grunts, yellowtail snappers, and an assortment of Butterfly and Angelfish. Tres Cocos is named after three tall coconut trees on shore used to locate the site. The reef here gets as shallow as four feet. Here you will find the most beautiful corals, colorful species of both large and small fishes, shrimp, parrotfish, fairy basslet, sea urchins, spider crabs, lobster, and many other small critters of the sea. You will also see magnificent elk horns, sea whips, and sea rods that make good protection for juvenile fishes. The highlights of this trip are the mountains of brain coral, which grow up to 20 feet. On the sandy seabed, you might even see stingrays, eagle rays, and peacock flounder. The nurse shark is a common site as well.

Mexico Rocks & Tres Cocos is protected from ocean swells and currents, so it makes for easier snorkeling, perfect for beginners. Depth is only about 6 to 12 feet, so you can see everything up close. Water visibility in this area of the crystal clear Caribbean Sea is about 50 feet or more.

Turneffe is the largest of the three atolls and the only one with an extensive cover of mangroves, featuring spectacular wall diving suitable for every level of diver. Because of its ... moreundeveloped, the atoll has an untouched marine life. Visibility is excellent, making it easy to enjoy the large school of horse-eye jacks, snapper, and permits. Turneffe Island makes the scuba diving an adventure like no other dive destination in the Caribbean. The vastness and variety of marine life and coral formations are truly unmatched.

The isolation, lack of any large-scale development and the natural attributes of the atoll make it the most biologically diverse coral atoll in the Caribbean. Sixty species of birds live or migrate through here. The water teems with dolphins and sharks and crocodiles.

But it’s the fish that most people come for.

With visibility, up to 100 feet and such a rich marine environment we were able to see spotted eagle rays slowly flapping by like birds underwater, loggerhead turtles, colorful and diverse coral formations (soft and hard), big schools of creole wrasse which flash by in a blur of black and blue, tiny snapping shrimp (which really do snap), spotted toadfish, peppermint shrimp, dancing crabs and a remora (aka suckerfish) so big it had a smaller remora attached to it and lots more.

The best snorkel guides are excited to share their underwater world with you. They will ask questions about your swimming and snorkeling experience to ensure you are comfortable in ... morethe water. They will explain the site, what you might see, and ensure you understand the route you will be taking. They look for unusual coral, hard-to-spot fish, and invertebrates just to see you get excited–they want to talk about what you saw when you’re back on the boat. Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley

Enjoy the sights of the barrier reef during this snorkel tour. During your stop at Hol Chan, you will experience abundant marine life. At Shark Ray Alley you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with nurse sharks, rays, and jacks as they swim around the boat.

Mexico Rocks

A short boat ride north takes you to Mexico Rocks where you will snorkel in a protected area with abundant marine life. Great for beginners but with enough to see to keep the experienced snorkeler engaged.

Tres Cocos

During this tour, you will get the opportunity to snorkel at two sites–Tres Cocos and Tuffy. At Tres Cocos, you will encounter large brain coral, sea fans, and much marine fish. At Tuffy, the marine life is the star of the site.

Depart Blue Tang Inn on the Sirena Azul Sailboat at 8:30 am or 1:30 pm daily. Sail, relax, and enjoy the aqua-blue Caribbean for about 45 minutes to Mexico Rocks, a famous snorkel ... morespot with coral heads and fish. Here, a guide will lead you along the reef, pointing out the many interesting fish and coral formations. Mexico Rocks are shallow and protected by the barrier reef from ocean swells and are a great site for snorkelers to enjoy. Sip a refreshing drink on your return to Blue Tang Inn at 12 Noon or 5 pm. Bring towels, sunscreen, a hat, and a light sweater along. Snorkel gear is available at the Blue Tang Inn office. wBlue Tang Inn is located on Sandpiper Street, Beachfront in San Pedro Town
