At Martz Farm Treehouses and Cabanas, the experience goes far beyond accommodation guests have access to a wide range of guided jungle adventures, cultural tours, and hands-on experiences, ... moreboth on-site and throughout western Belize.
One of the most popular activities is the Pontoon Boat Jungle Adventure, where guests spend a relaxing day cruising along the river and lake, stopping at hidden waterfalls and natural swimming spots deep in the jungle. It’s a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration, and a signature experience unique to the property.
For a more traditional jungle experience, guests can enjoy horseback riding through the Maya Mountains and Vaca Forest Reserve, guided by knowledgeable locals. These rides take you through rivers, forest trails, and scenic viewpoints, offering a peaceful way to explore the landscape.
Adventure seekers can also explore Belize’s famous underground world with cave tours, including options like ATM Cave, Barton Creek, and Crystal Cave. These excursions combine hiking, swimming, and history, as many caves were once sacred ceremonial sites for the ancient Maya.
For cultural exploration, Martz Farm offers Maya ruins tours to sites such as Xunantunich, Caracol, and even Tikal in Guatemala. These guided trips allow guests to step back in time and learn about one of the most advanced ancient civilizations in the region.
There are also unique, hands-on experiences like the Ajaw Chocolate Tour, where guests learn how cacao is processed and even make their own traditional chocolate, just as the Maya did.
Wildlife and conservation experiences are available as well, including visits to the Green Iguana Conservation Project, where guests can learn about local conservation efforts and interact with these fascinating reptiles.
In addition to these structured tours, Martz Farm also offers more personalized and on-property adventures such as hiking, river exploration, wildlife spotting, and educational jungle walks guided by the owners, who share deep knowledge of the local ecosystem.
Overall, guests can expect a mix of:
* Adventure (caving, horseback riding, jungle tours) * Relaxation (pontoon trips, waterfalls, river swimming) * Culture (Maya ruins, chocolate making) * Nature & education (wildlife, conservation, jungle knowledge)
All tours can be customized and arranged directly through the lodge, making it easy for guests to build a full Belize adventure from one base.
