Where the Sea Meets Belizean Hospitality: My Stay at Seaside Chateau
There are some places you visit for a night, and then there are places that make you want to slow down, stay a little longer, and enjoy where you are.
My stay at
Seaside Chateau in
Belize City was definitely the latter.
Located near the
Belize International Airport,
Seaside Chateau sits in a truly special setting where the Belize River meets the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by a majestic mangrove ecosystem and approximately four acres of beautiful, eco-friendly property.
But what makes this place memorable isn't just its location.
It's the combination of nature, comfortable accommodations, great food, genuine Belizean hospitality, and the opportunity to experience wildlife and the outdoors without having to travel far.
A Warm Belizean Welcome
I checked into
Seaside Chateau on August 25 and was greeted at the front desk by Ms. Patricia. The front desk begins operations at 7:00 AM, while standard check-in is at 3:00 PM.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dave, the property owner, along with his family, Ms. Marjeli, Ms. Trilby, and Ms. Leila. Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming, and it didn't take long for me to feel comfortable.
Mr. Dave and Ms Patricia personally showed me to my room, and that is when the experience really began.
Welcome to the Avocado Cabaña
I stayed in the Avocado Cabaña, which faces the sea, and when I walked in, the first thing that caught my attention was the view.
Oh my God the views were amazing!
The room was comfortable and clean, with a king-size bed, bathtub, refrigerator, and a private bathroom stocked with towels and toiletries.
But what really stood out to me were the little details. The cabañas are beautifully put together, and you can tell that care and thought went into creating a comfortable environment for guests.
And then there was the view, being able to wake up with the Caribbean Sea right outside your room is an experience all on its own.
Four Acres Surrounded by Nature
One of the things that makes
Seaside Chateau special is its natural setting.
The approximately four-acre property is eco-friendly and solar-powered, allowing guests to enjoy a beautiful coastal environment while experiencing a more sustainable approach to hospitality.
The resort's location where the
Belize River meets the Caribbean Sea also means that nature is very much part of the experience.
The surrounding mangrove ecosystem provides habitat for a variety of wildlife, including opportunities to spot dolphins, manatees, and crocodiles in the river area. The area is also excellent for fishing, sightseeing, and birdwatching.
For anyone who loves nature, this is not simply scenery outside your window; it's part of the experience.
As I explored the property, I found an outlook area where guests can sit and look out for wildlife and birds, along with hammocks where you can simply relax and take in your surroundings.
There is also a beautiful beach area with incredible views, and for those who want to get out on the water, kayaking is available.
An Infinity Pool with a View
Of course, no stay at
Seaside Chateau would be complete without enjoying the infinity pool.
The pool provides another beautiful place to relax and take in the surroundings, creating that perfect vacation moment where you can cool off while enjoying the scenery around you.
Whether you want to spend the day exploring or simply lounging by the water, there are plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy the property.
The Pavilion: A Place to Gather
Another space that caught my attention was the Pavilion.
This common area gives guests a place to relax, enjoy lunch or dinner, and watch live sports on television.
There is also a gaming area where guests can enjoy games such as blackjack, roulette, and poker.
For those looking to stay active, the resort has a gym, while massage services are available for guests who want a little extra relaxation.
It's the kind of property where you can decide what kind of day you want to have.
Adventure?
Relaxation?
A little bit of both?
You can do it here!
A Wildlife Experience I Won't Forget
One of the highlights of my stay happened later that evening.
Mr. Dave took me out on a boat ride with his family, and what happened next was something I will never forget.
As we were out on the water, I had my first-ever experience watching hundreds of mangrove swallows flying all around the island.
It was mesmerizing, watching hundreds of birds move through the sky while surrounded by the natural beauty of the area was an experience I could have stayed out there enjoying all night.
It also gave me a completely different appreciation for the ecosystem surrounding Seaside Chateau.
This is one of those places where you don't necessarily have to schedule a wildlife encounter. Sometimes, nature simply shows up.
And Then Came Dinner
After the boat ride, I returned to my room, took a shower, and headed out for dinner.
Ms Kadisha was the cook that evening, and let me tell you, she did not disappoint.I had one of the most amazing bruschettas, and it was absolutely delicious.
The restaurant is another part of the
Seaside Chateau experience. The owners take pride in providing great food, and after a day of exploring, being able to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal without leaving the property is a definite plus.
Waking Up to the Caribbean Sea
After a relaxing night's sleep, I woke up to one of my favorite parts of the stay: the view.
There is something special about waking up and seeing the sea right outside your room.
I got up early to watch the sunrise, and it was beautiful and incredibly relaxing. I also had the opportunity to watch birds that morning before getting ready for breakfast.
Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and I was treated to a delicious Belizean breakfast.
My plate was fully loaded with scrambled eggs, fry jacks, fresh fruit, bacon, and a hash brown, accompanied, of course, by a cup of coffee.
It was the perfect way to start the morning.
More Than Just a One-Night Stay
One of the biggest things I took away from my visit is that Seaside Chateau shouldn't be viewed simply as a convenient one-night stop near the airport.
Yes, its location makes it convenient for travelers arriving in or departing from
Belize, but the property itself gives you plenty of reasons to stay longer.
Come and unwind, explore the four-acre property, spend time by the infinity pool, relax in a hammock, go kayaking, watch the sunrise, look for birds and wildlife, enjoy the beach, try the food, or simply sit back and take in the views.
And when you're ready to explore beyond the property,
Seaside Chateau also offers tours to Altun Ha and surrounding areas, as well as wildlife tours.
With fishing, sightseeing, birdwatching, and the incredible natural environment surrounding the resort, you can make Seaside Chateau part of your Belize adventure rather than simply a place to sleep before heading somewhere else.
Where Nature and Hospitality Meet
But if there is one thing I would take away from my experience at
Seaside Chateau, it is the hospitality.
There are beautiful resorts all over
Belize, but there is something special about staying somewhere where you feel genuinely welcomed.
From Ms. Patricia greeting me when I arrived, to Mr. Dave showing me to my room, spending time on the boat with his family, meeting Ms. Marjeli, Ms. Trilby, and Ms. Leila, and enjoying a meal prepared by Ms. Kadisha, the experience felt personal.
It didn't feel like I was simply checking into a resort; it felt like I was being welcomed into someone's home.
And that, combined with the natural beauty surrounding the property, is what makes
Seaside Chateau stand out.
If you are looking for a Belizean experience where you can slow down, connect with nature, enjoy great food, explore, relax, and feel welcomed by family,
Seaside Chateau is definitely a place to explore.
It's a place where the
Belize River meets the Caribbean Sea, and mangroves create a home for wildlife. Where mornings begin with sea views and birdsong, where you spend the day exploring and the evening relaxing, and where hospitality feels personal.
So don't think of
Seaside Chateau as just a place to spend the night.
Unwind. Explore. Experience
Belize.
And if you haven't discovered
Seaside Chateau yet, you're missing out.
