Description
We meet at the Cayo Welcome Center where you get an introduction to Belize and San Ignacio and a glimpse of what life was like before the Welcome Center was built. We then take a walk down Burns Avenue also known as the Tourist street, walking up to Constitution Park where we talk about the colonial history of the community in comparison to what we presently see.

We point out major historical buildings and landmarks like the San Ignacio Police Station and the Hawkesworth Bridge which we will also take a walkover as we go to the twin town of Santa Elena. We will make a stop at one of our major tortilla factories where guests get to learn how modern-day corn tortillas are made and the processes and machines being used.

We cross back into San Ignacio town using the low wooden bridge where you get some history of the Macal River that flows beneath it. Our final stop will be the San Ignacio Farmers Market where you get to sample exotic Belizean fruits, learn the medicinal values of the foods and herbs available, and make your own corn tortilla the traditional Mayan way. We then take you back to the Cayo Welcome Center as we end the tour.

I am a licensed tour guide for over 15 years focusing mainly on historical, cultural and wellness tours around the entire country of Belize. I am currently the co-owner of Duce's Best ... moreBelize Tours (Double Duce Belize Tours) which is a family business that promotes safe, fun and educational experiences through the eyes of the local Belizeans. Our tours are done in both English and Spanish and the activities will allow you the opportunity learn/hear languages of our indigenous people. Traveling and meeting new people are my greatest passion and sharing my country with guests from around the world is a great pleasure. I want everyone to experience a little bit of PARADISE!
