From there you board on a private vehicle with your guide as you begin your road trip to Altun Ha Mayan Ruin: Altun Ha is an ancient Mayan City about 30 miles north of Belize City, dating back to about B.C. 900. It is believed the city was occupied for centuries up until A.D. 1000, covering the classic period A.D. 250-900, the time from which most of the information of this city was gathered and the time when the city was at its height.

The name Altun Ha means “Rockstone Water”, and it is derived by the name of a nearby village called Rockstone Pond, but Altun-Ha’s ancient name remains unknown. The largest temple of Altun Ha is the Temple of the Masonry Altars which stand 54 feet high. The Sun God’s Tomb is also found on this temple dated for about A.D. 600-650, in which researchers found a skeleton and various artifacts when the tomb was excavated.
The Mayans made use of the land and it’s terrains, as they did so above the surface they also did so below the surface. The Mayans believed that the caves were an entrance to Xibalba “a place of fear” related to death. It is completely so because the Mayans used the caves to perform death rituals and also the river flowing through these caves provided a secret passageway to ambush enemies.

Cave Tubing into a cave system at Caves Branch. After reaching the Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve you will hike for about 30 minutes through the Belize Rain Forest and through a couple dry caves until you come to the opening of the first cave through which the underground Caves Branch river flows. This is where the REAL fun begins as you will be assisted in getting into your inner tube to begin floating through the caves. It's a short but amazing journey of about 45 minutes to an hour. Our tubes with headrest are linked so there is no need to hold on to someone else's feet and you are guided by a licensed and experience tour guide :) At the end of the tour we will head back to water taxi terminal.

This full day is one where you get to see a wide diversity of things on the island. It is pretty much seeing and going around the Island. Going through the lagoon, seeing the green ... moreiguanas on the mangroves, passing through the white sandy flats where fly fishing takes place. Getting to San Juan ranger station, where the fishes are and the museum with a rich Mayan history and also Mayan artifacts that have been recovered from Chaac Balam Mayan Site. Passing through the Mayan Dugout Channel (channel the dug to facilitate their trading routes), spotting manatees inside the channel surrounded by mangroves eventually leading out to the front of the island where the barrier reef is. Crystal clear water, pretty secluded, where nice snorkeling takes place at Barracuda Patch, and also along the reef. Did I mention this place is like a paradise for anglers? It is. Some really nice fishing takes place close to Rocky Point inside the reef and even better outside the reef. Those big fish get you tired reeling them in. Conchs and lobsters during their harvest season we get them to enjoy even more our meal. Once we have enough to cook and make our conch ceviche, we move to the island and do our magic while you enjoy the sun, sand, and ice cold beers.
Once all is done, once calm weather, we make our way back through the front of the island now. So you get to see and go around the complete island of Ambergris Caye. This is one adventure you will love and an experience you will remember for life...

Snorkeling at Hol Chan, visiting the nurse sharks and the stingrays, snorkeling with the manatees, feeding the tarpons and visiting the seahorses definitely needs a whole day. This ... moreis a full day full of Fun!
Pick up time can either be 8:00 am or 8:30 - you decide. The first stop is at Hol Chan - "Little Channel". That is our first snorkeling stop. Once completed, less than 3 minutes boat ride we get to Shark and Ray Alley. Here you can either stay on the boat and snap pictures or go in the water to SWIM with the marine species like nurse sharks, stingrays, horse-eye jacks and much more fish. We bring sardine to feed them...
After that, we move towards our sister island Caye Caulker. We head to the Northern Channel where we go look out for the manatees. Once spotted, you get on your snorkeling gears and go in to snorkel with them. So Marvelous!

We then go to the island and visit the famous "Split" which divides the island into two parts that were caused in 1961 by hurricane Hattie. On the leeward part of the island, we go to feed the big tarpons from the boat - if you are brave enough! Lol. Not too far we have the seahorse city reserve. You get to look at them. Once all of this is done, normally around 12:30 pm we go to the island to walk and find a restaurant of your choice where you will have lunch. We depart from Caye Caulker to San Pedro around 3:00 pm.

Amazing day!
We were a tour of 3 adults 8 kids and it was fantastic! We saw sting rays, swam with sharks, and saw a manatee and dolphins. It was so fun and was made even better with Nester and Chap! They were accommodating, patient and helpful with the kiddos, and went out of their way to make sure we not only did the things the description included, but had extra experiences.

Fun experience, amazing ocean life
We had a great time with our guides George of the Jungle and Eddie Lover. Water was super clear and fish and coral reef were beyond my expectations. We were not abel to find any manatee's as it was stormy that day but the rest of the fish, ray's, eels, lobster, turtles, sharks, etc. made the excursion memorable. We had one daughter who had a hard time feeling comfortable breathing through the snorkel ... more so Eddie pulled her around on a tube and she held her breath and looked that way and she even had a good time. We appreciated him accomodating her so we could enjoy the ocean. The owner Luis we were able to get all of our questions answered timely and all was a success.

Don’t book with anyone else!
We did 3 excursions with Tza-Ten-A-Ha Awesome Adventures, they were ALL incredible! Truly unBelizeable. We did the Full Day Fishing with Private Beach BBQ excursion and the Manatee Snorkle and Caye Caulker excursion with tour guide Eddie Lover. For the fishing excursion we were there the day before lobster season ended. We wanted to get lobster and Eddie accepted the challenge eagerly. We struggled ... more to find and spear the lobsters ourselves but Eddie made it happen. He was dedicated. We had so much fun learning how to spear fish and lobsters! We enjoyed fishing as well. At one point we even saw a baby sea turtle. To finish an amazing day he brought us to a beautiful beach where we got to go to a nice bar on the water. There we waited while Eddie cooked us an amazing meal. The meal was delicious and couldn’t have been more fresh, all lobster, conch, and fish we caught just hours before. Eddie was so flexible, knowledgeable and fun! Oh and I forgot to mention bottomless rum punch aboard his boat throughout the day! For the snorkeling excursion Eddie brought us to the infamous Hol Chan Reserve. What an incredible place, we have snorkeled in other places in the Caribbean but this was like no other. We saw nurse sharks, sea turtles, various kinds of sting rays, parrot fish, eels, puffer fish, and a plethora of other different species of coral and fish. It was truly breathtaking. He even took us past the reef and we got a one of a kind experience. We swam with nurse sharks after they were fed, we fed tarpons, we saw a shipwreck which wasn’t even on our itinerary. Eddie was willing to show us anything we were interested in seeing and experiencing. He even stopped the boat and let us watch the sunset. It was a magical day. He created a one of a kind experience. With other tour companies you are on a strict schedule and there is little flexibility in the activities you do/places you see. This was not the case while on excursion with Eddie. For our mainland excursion we did Cave Tubing & Xunantunich with owner and tour guide Luis Diaz. If you are contemplating this excursion it is more than worth the cost and extra travel involved. Luis is incredibly knowledgeable about anything you would want to know about Belize and more. All along the route he gives you facts about the areas as you pass them. He is open to any and all questions. I asked many and none went unanswered. The Mayan ruins were a breathtaking part of history and not just for the Mayans but humanity. It was incredible to see and walk on, made us feel so small. The views from atop the ruins were incredible. After the ruins we had a fantastic traditional Belizean lunch. The chicken was especially amazing. Then we did the cave tubing. With Luis we got to walk through more of the jungle and see more of nature then you typically would with other tour guides. He is especially keen on details of the trees, wildlife and cave system. I won’t ruin the surprise but he even grabbed a leaf off a tree for us to try. It was a pleasant surprise. The cave system is like no other place on earth. It truly felt as if we were entering a different world, if not the underworld. It was mesmerizing. Such a uniquely beautiful enmeshment with nature. Luis is a great communicator from the get go and responds quickly. He was willing to let us come up with a meeting point that was convenient for us since we didn’t know the area well. He made things very easy for us. Also the tours are private! So it’s just your group, we loved the intimacy in this. No waiting for others or being with a large group of people. We got to see more and had a truly special experience because of this. Highly recommend! We plan to go back and won’t use any other company!

Luis was so easy to work with and set up a private tour for 3 of us by email and we contacted through WhatsApp as well! Eddy took us out to Mexico Rocks. He told us the history and showed us all kinds of fish, lobsters, turtles! Eddy was great with one in our group that didn’t swim well to make sure he was comfortable enough to stay in the water and see lots of fish! We really appreciate the hospitality ... more and will go back with TZE TEN A HA Awesome Adverntures tomorrow for Hol Chan and Caye Caulker. We brought our masks because of covid and they brought us flippers! Super safe, private, great day!

Luis at Tza-Ten-Ha Awesome Adventures was Incredible!
Our small group was alone with Luis and never felt rushed, cramped or dismissed/forgotten. He served our choice of fresh fruit and fresh drinks. Luis was not only passionate but extremely knowledgeable about BBR and answered any and all questions we had for him. I honestly feel we got lucky when we chose Luis! The other tours we saw while we were out did not look any where near as appealing! Thanks ... more Luis!

Truly unbelizeable!
Our group of 5 had a fabulous time with Luis on our half day tour of Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley! Luis was so friendly and accommodating. He brought us drinks of our choice and fruit to snack on. He was also incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the reef. He guided us through Hol Chan, then allowed us to freely explore at Shark Ray Alley and Conch Graveyard. So happy we chose Tza Ten Ha!
