About Location
Located in the Cayo District of Belize, the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve is a protected area that is home to a variety of bird, mammals, plants and other animal species. The tropical and subtropical moist forests provide habitats for the wildlife, including Belize's national animal, the Baird's tapir. Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve is one of the few areas protecting the biological diversity of the Maya Mountain northern foothills ecosystem.
