Thereafter, the fun and excitement begin by floating on your tube on one of the only rivers that have retained its name since the time of the Mayas the “Mopan River”. This floating adventure takes at least three hours downstream, part of the float is mellow but the rapids make the adventure more exciting. The rapids are point five-just enough to kick in some adrenaline.

Wildlife Sightseeing with Manatee Spotting
About 40 minutes south of Placencia is Monkey River Village a small village at the mouth of Monkey River. This community was once a thriving ... moretown where the banana trade was centered, now still home to a small number of families. You will head out from Placencia with one of the guides from the village.
Along the way, you will pass through some mangrove tunnels. Once at the mouth of the Monkey River, you will head up the river cruising slowly as the guides point out various animals and insects of interest.
There are many species of birds, minute bats, sunbathing iguanas, turtles, and sometimes even crocodiles. Eventually, you will stop at a trail, whichever one is the favorite of your guide. He will then lead you along the trail pointing out other items of interest while looking for the elusive howler monkey. These guys are small but so loud that they can be heard from miles away, most times you get to see them. When done with the trail if the river level is suitable you will be able to take a swim and then cruise back to the village for some locally prepared lunch.
After lunch, indulge in a chat with friendly villagers or head home. On the way back, we stop at a local habitat area and look out for the West Indian Manatee. They are very shy but oftentimes you can get a good view of them. From there it's back to your resort to relax for the remainder of the day.

Here we do a river tour and nature trails along the banks of the river, we usually see monkeys, crocodiles, birds, iguanas, and much more.
After about 2 hours up the river, we then head back to monkey river village, here we have lunch at a local restaurant (lunch is not included in the price, bring cash along)
Then after lunch, we then go do Manatee watching off the boat for about 30 minutes and then we depart back to Placencia Village

You're picked up at your hotel in the morning for the drive to the ancient Mayan city known as Altun Ha. Here, your guide shows you around the collection of pyramids, walkways, and plazas as you learn about its history dating back to the 10th century BC.
Next, you're taken to a zip line facility with a course built in the canopy of Belize's lush rainforest. Gear up and strap in for a ride that takes you over the treetops, on lines that take you up to 85 feet (26 m) above the ground for terrific views of the jungle rushing below.
Grab some lunch as you catch your breath ahead of an expedition that takes you into the rainforest and to the mouth of a system of caverns fed by the Caves Branch River. Here, you pick up your tubing gear and set off to let the current carry you underground. Admire the stone pillars, stalactites, and stalagmites, and learn how the Mayans viewed these surroundings as a part of the underworld before the tour wraps up with a ride back to your hotel.

The Monkey River tour begins in Monkey River Town, a coastal village located just a short distance from the Placencia Village. From there, participants will board a boat and head upstream to explore one of the most pristine and untouched areas of the country, home to mangrove swamps and verdant jungles teeming with wildlife.
During the journey, an experienced tour guide will provide information about the wide variety of different plants, birds, and animals in the area, including giant iguanas, toucans, manatees, crocodiles, and different plants used for medicinal purposes by the locals.
Once deep into the heart of the jungle, the boat will dock on the banks. Participants will enjoy a light hike through the foliage, learning more about the plants and animals until they reach an area inhabited by black howler monkeys. These animals are renowned for having one of the loudest calls in the animal kingdom, able to be heard more than four miles away.
Although black howler monkeys flourish in this part of Belize, their numbers are dwindling elsewhere in Central America, making this region an important conservation area for these unique animals. Black howler monkeys live in troops of around a dozen individuals dominated by an alpha male.
Despite their name, only the adult males are black in color. Juveniles of both genders and adult females have a whitish-golden fur color with red highlights. Black howler monkeys are vegetarian, consuming a diet of mostly leaves but also some fruit. They have prehensile tails that act as extra arms, helping them maintain a secure grip high up in the jungle canopy.
Black howler monkeys sleep or rest for up to 70% of the day. Because of the way their tails work with their arms and legs, walking on the ground is difficult for black howler monkeys. Normally, they spend their entire lives in the trees but do occasionally come down to the banks of the river to drink water.
After returning to the boat, participants will have a chance to enjoy a refreshing swim in the river to cool off from the heat. On the trip back to Monkey River Town, the tour will pass by several small villages where locals participating in daily tasks and fishing can be observed. Upon returning to Monkey River Town, participants will enjoy a delicious meal prepared onsite by a local family.
