ATM cave was known for performing rituals to appease the rain god of Xibalba, the underworld.
Getting to ATM involves a 45-minute moderate jungle trail hike. While entering the cave, there is a river flowing out, so swimming for short distances and getting wet is part of this tour.

Caracol is the largest Maya archaeological site in Belize. In AD 650, the urban area of Caracol had a radius of approximately 10 kilometers around the center of the site. Caracol is noted not only for its size during the Maya Classic era (A.D. 250-950) but also for its prowess in war; this includes an AD 562 defeat of Tikal and the subsequent conquest of Naranjo.
