Annual Cross Country Cycling Race in Belize Initiated in 1928, the Cross Country Cycling Race has evolved into a symbolic and traditional aspect of Belize. In the early days of 1928, ... morecurious and enthusiastic Belizeans took it upon themselves to travel west of the country on their bikes through bumpy, unpaved, dirt roads. From this expedition to San Ignacio Town, the famous annual Cross Country Cycling Race was born after the first award was given to the fastest racer. Approximately ninety years later, it has been one of the biggest and anticipated cycling races of the year by spectators and cyclists.

Every year, experienced and amateur cyclists join the race in hopes of breaking the national record for the fastest time and win coveted prizes. Starting at 6:00 a.m., each participant’s stamina and skills will be put to the test as they speed from Belize City to San Ignacio Town and make their return to Belize City.
2018 Cross Country Cycling Race in Belize Let the festivities continue! As we approach Easter time, Belizeans and travelers all over the world are anticipating the annual Cross Country Cycling Classic being held on Holy Saturday, March 31, 2018. Like the La Ruta Maya Canoe Race, the Cross Country Cycling Race is locally and internationally recognized as one of Belize’s most vigorous and competitive races. Audiences from all over Central America, South America, North America and, even, Europe come to Belize to witness cyclists competitively pedal themselves to victory from Belize City to San Ignacio Town and back. Hosted for nine decades and counting, this is an intensive one hundred and forty miles race is to be completed by the cyclists in just a few hours.
Why you should watch the Annual Cross Country Cycling Race in Belize? As early as 5:00 a.m., those living closer to Belize City, where the race starts, gather at the side of the George Price Highway to cheer on the cyclists as they race their way to San Ignacio Town. Started in 2013, the Hopkins BTIA Chapter hosts the Hopkins Mangu Fest with the goal of promoting Hopkins Village as an attractive tourist destination that displays a unique and enjoyable cultural and culinary experience. In addition to this, the festival also contributes to an economic boost for local businesses in the area as slow season, or "maga" season, is in effect.

The Hopkins Mangu Fest is an exciting, family-friendly, two day event that celebrates everything mango, ranging from mango-inspired dishes, jams and jellies, candies, and drinks. Usually, there are plenty of competitions and games by the different booths. Although this festival is surrounded on the delicious mango fruits, the Garifuna culture is also greatly promoted through clothing, music, dance and food.
2018 Hopkins Mango Festival This year will be the sixth annual Mango Fest in Hopkins. Happening on June 2 and 3, the village of Hopkins will kick off the opening of mango season in Belize. A wide variety of mangoes, from apple mangoes to number 11 mangoes, will be featured along with mango products, inspired dishes and treats, and traditional Garifuna foods and culture. You can expect live drumming, dancing, a Dashiki competition hosted by Tina's Kitchen and a collection of favorite artists such as Lloyd Augustine, Dunri Yurumein, C-Wills, Bredda David, Griga Boyz, Turtle Shell Band and Pen Cayatano, Sweet Pain, and MohoBob.

2018 Placencia BTIA Mistletoe Ball This year the 19th Annual Mistletoe Ball is being held at Tipsy Tuna on December 15, 2018. Tickets for the ball are being sold at Placencia BTIA Office, Tipsy Tuna, Barefoot Bar, Burger JointPlacencia Office Supply, and Tracy West-Eiley. The event will include a dinner starting at 7:00 p.m., followed by a dance starting at 10:00 p.m. These are the different prices for the tickets :
Dinner & Dance for couples: $65.00 Bz 
Dinner & Dance for single person: $40 Bz
Dance only: $25 Bz
