Altun Ha consists of two plazas that include four ceremonial temples and two residential complexes. It is one of the few Maya sites in Belize where guests can still climb. It was considered one of the wealthiest Maya sites in Belize because the biggest carved Jade head was found in the masonry temple which is the highest temple.

The length of the tour is approximately 4 hours. We pick you up at the Tourism Village at Terminal 1 and we drive for about 50 minutes on the Northern Highway. We take a detour for about 14 miles as we travel through a dense forest before we arrive at the ancient city of Altun Ha.

Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel, the cruise terminal, the water taxi, or the Municipal in Belize City. You'll be transported in air-conditioned transportation to Altun Ha, which is about 45-60 minutes away from Belize City. Please note that the order of activities may change depending on the time and conditions.

Altun Ha is a Maya ceremonial center and trading hub that dates back to 250 BC. It's located in the heart of the Belize rainforest and is home to over 275 structures. The site was discovered in 1958, and if weather conditions permit, you can still climb to the top of the temples for a breathtaking view of the rainforest. Experience the aura of these ancient stargazers who once lived in the Belize rainforests.

After the guided excursion to Altun Ha, your guide will take you to Nohoch Che'en Archaeological Park, which is about 60 minutes away from the ruins. This park is the starting point for your cave tubing adventure. Cave tubing is one of the most popular guided activities in Belize.

Once you arrive, you'll have access to the facilities before your excursion guide reviews the safety rules and instructions. You'll receive a headlamp and then follow your guide on a 30-minute walk to the cave entrance.

Your excursion guide will take you to explore the mysterious caves that were once considered the ancient underworld of the Maya. You'll see spectacular crystal formations that are over a million years old and shadows on the cave walls as you gently float along. The caves are a living museum where you can experience the past in its historical and natural form. You'll glide past openings in the ceiling, filtering jungle light as you float through underground river caves sparkling with studded stalactites and stalagmites. You'll get to float through three caves in total.
