Best value and most genuine & personal dive experience for dive shops in San Pedro, Belize.
Short version: For the best value and a more personal experience this is the dive shop you want! Long Version: Our favourite dive shop in Belize! Blue Heaven is the best for a more personal dive experience and they also just happen to have the best pricing! My fiancé and I went diving with Blue Heaven and one of the first things we noticed is the other dive boats were packed with people while my fiancé ... more and I were the only guests on Michael's boat. This was fantastic because I'm not a big fan of tours or groups or feeling like I'm part of a herd. I also don't like having to go slowly for less experienced divers or go too quickly for more experienced divers so with it being just my fiancé and I Michael was able to give more individual attention and set the perfect pace. My fiancé had never done a single dive before and the idea of the open ocean and sharks etc had her more than a little nervous. Michael is great though, he went at her pace, helped her overcome her fears, learn the skills, and become completely comfortable with diving. We got PADI certified with Blue Heaven and my fiancé loved diving so much we ended up doing a couple more 2 tank dives with Blue Heaven. The whole experience was amazing. We saw so much and got to experience a lot in the underwater world. It was such a transformational experience for my fiancé and watching her go from scared, nervous, and timid to brave, confident and proud was probably the highlight of the trip. We dove through canyons, under stuff, saw huge eels, reef sharks, nurse sharks, sea spiders, so many fish and... Dolphins!!! I've done a bunch of dives but for my fiancé's first dive I figured it would be a simple not much to see dive where I should focus on her so I decided to leave the camera on the boat. Of course it's the one time I don't have my GoPro handy that two dolphins come to check us out and circle around us up close. That magical experience definitely helped to hook my fiancé on diving. We joked that she used all our luck up on her first dive. By the end of our dive trip my fiancé was so comfortable that when a shark brushed by her all she said later was that its skin wasn't as smooth as she expected it to feel. The sharks are gentle, not aggressive at all, and are more afraid of you than you are of them. Her message to any would be new divers is don't psych yourself out and deprive yourself of an amazing experience, just try it once and you'll realize your fears were unfounded and you were safer than you thought, and just being silly worrying so much. You're in good hands with Michael and the Blue Heaven dive team. Do NOT miss out on having an amazing experience on your Belize trip!!! -Michael is a great instructor who knows all the best dive sites and if he can comfortably turn my nervous Nellie of a fiancé into a confident and enthusiastic diver then he can do the same for anyone. -Yesenia is great on communication and replies by email lightning fast. -Marvin is very knowledgeable about many things Belizean. -Tequila (the dive shop dog) is adorable and reminded us of our dog who we missed on this trip. -The dive shop and boats might not be the biggest, fanciest, or newest but I'd rather have a quaint dive shop with character, the savings of the lower overhead passed onto the customer, no one pushing me to buy anything, and a more personal and genuine experience. -The Location of the dive shop is fairly easy to find but I'll post pictures to make it a little easier. We stayed north a bit in San Pedro so we walked south on Pescador Dr until we reached the Catholic school the turned left but you can also reach it by walking down Barrier Reef Dr and turning left at the Belize Chocolate Company or by walking down the beach the whole way. We loved it so much that even though I try not to visit the same place twice... we're going back in 2025 and we're bringing...
