The park offers a wide variety of hikes of varying lengths and difficulty, including Ben's Bluff, which has a spectacular view of the entire Basin, and a waterfall where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. It is also known for its spectacular waterfalls, mountain views, nature trails, and rich diversity of over 290 species of birds. The tracks of wildcats, tapir, deer, and other wildlife are often seen on hiking trails. As jaguars and other cats are nocturnal, it is unlikely that you will see them, but you can spot fresh tracks. The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is home to jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays, and jaguarundis as well as tapirs, deer, and monkeys.

After trekking an ancient home of the Maya, you’ll head west for a 90-minute drive towards Jaguar Paw for tubing. Once at the outpost, you will meet your tour guides who will issue inflatable tubes, headlamps, and life vests. You’ll be given a basic orientation and safety briefing before heading off on a 30-minute hike which includes wading through a few knee-deep water streams. Don’t let the hike worry you though; as it’s mostly on flat terrain, it is enjoyable and informative. It’s shaded by the rainforest canopy and our tour guides will point out flora and fauna noteworthy to the area. Once at the entrance of the cave system, it’s time for your cave-tubing adventure through the ancient Maya underworld. Inside, you’ll see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene richness and grandiosity of Xibalba as it’s known.
If there’s time, and you’re open to added adventure, our guides may stop at the mini waterfall and swimming area. After leaving the falls, you’ll emerge into the sunlight and free float downstream, ushered by the gentle current and little rapids, to the harmony of birds and natural wildlife which routes back to where the tour started

We begin our journey through farmland where you can observe the Mennonite community of Upper Barton Creek and experience their traditional lifestyle. We then reach Barton Creek Cave, much of which is still to be explored and which stretches for 4.5 miles. We canoe in for one mile exploring the amazing history and geology of this massive cave. At the entrance of the cave, we board our canoes, switch on our headlights and start to slowly paddle into the cave passage. While floating deeper into the passage we learn about the geology, archaeology, and Mayan history of these caves. Our lights will bring to life sparkling crystal formations that are millions of years old. After exploring the caves, we turn our canoes around and float back to park our canoes and complete our half-day tour with a refreshing swim.

Your guide will drive you for another 1.5 hours before arriving at Tikal National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, we will pass small villages, beautiful lakeside scenery, and rolling hills with rainforests and agriculture farms.
Upon arrival at Tikal, we will pay your entrance fees and then your guide will provide an in-depth 4-hour tour of this magnificent site (Our guide speaks fluent English). Tikal is known for its massive pyramid temples, monumental plazas, palaces, and stelae. This is a very significant site in the history of the region and Tikal was the most powerful metropolis in the area for many centuries. It was a prominent player in the Mesoamerican trade route, which extended up through Belize, into Mexico and beyond.
You will also have time to view wildlife such as howler monkeys and coatis, enjoy birding as you spy parrots, toucans, and oscillated turkeys among the trees, as well as sample some of the local culture of modern-day Guatemala. Xunantunich ( Maiden of the Rock) reveals to be one of the earliest centers in the region pre-dating to around 1000 B.C. when it was still a growing village. It eventually flourished into one of the powerhouses of the region alongside Naranjo, 8 km due west of Xunantunich. This impressive monument you are able to see today, archaeological research dates it to the 7th century! Xunantunich's most recent discovery has actually revealed the largest Royal tomb in the country of Belize. Be amazed by how boldly “El Castillo” stands overlooking the rest of the complexes. Climb this spectacular structure which rises 40m (130 ft.). Xunantunich is one of the highest, and most famous man-made buildings in the country.
