About Location
Burrell Boom is tranquil and charming village that lies on the Belize River, twenty miles above Belize City. This village was founded in the 18th century. Its name is taken from the iron chains, "booms," that loggers would extended across the river to trap the mahogany logs that were sent from further upriver. Today, you can still see the chains and anchors displayed in the Burrell Boom Park. This historic village is passed by visitors that are on their way to the Community Baboon Sanctuary.
