Description
Deep in the heart of the Chiquibul Forest Reserve lies one of the most impressive Maya sites in Belize, Caracol. Located at the base of the Maya Mountains in the Cayo District, it covers an area of 25,000 acres.

Numerous carved monuments establish that Caracol was a major player in the geopolitics of the Maya civilization. At the peak of its political power, it is estimated that almost 100,000 people populated Caracol.

Exploring this site, you will be captivated by its majestic pyramids, with the tallest reaching 143 feet tall.

Water level Notice:
This adventure is subject to high water levels from time to time throughout the year and can Be replaced with another tour or will be re-scheduled.

Cancellation Notice from Classic Expeditions Belize:
In Belize, rainy periods come and go in various intensities (keep in mind, we are in the rain-forest!) Frequently and especially during the rainy season (June to November and extending many
times as late January) It is difficult to provide advance cancellation notice for water-based adventure tours and many times there is simply no notice time at all. Rains are not always falling in our immediate area, but further up into the hills and surrounding watershed. Rivers will start rising but we won't see the effect until hours later. It is not unusual for the weather and river to be perfect in the early morning.

For adventures that include water activities
Even though the weather condition might make the tour permissible, we might not make it advisable. If we
inform you that the weather condition prevents us from doing your tour, Classic Expeditions Company reserves the right to cancel the adventure and apologizes for any inconveniences caused because of the cancellation of these water-based adventures with little or no notice.

If the water level changes considerably and it is not safe to go on the tour, it will be canceled.
Although Classic Expeditions does not provide refunds for situations where the weather is concerned, we will always provide you with an alternative activity. We will offer to move the tour to another date or recommend an alternative activity for the day. We take the safety of our guests and staff seriously. Thus, we will not start any tour if we consider it to be a risk to your safety and our guides.
