Xunantunich ( Maiden of the Rock) reveals to be one of the earliest centers in the region pre-dating to around 1000 B.C. when it was still a growing village. It eventually flourished into one of the powerhouses of the region alongside Naranjo, 8 km due west of Xunantunich. This impressive monument you are able to see today, archaeological research dates it to the 7th century! Xunantunich's most recent discovery has actually revealed the largest Royal tomb in the country of Belize. Be amazed by how boldly “El Castillo” stands overlooking the rest of the complexes.
