The little village of Seine Bight is sustained by fishing, hunting and small-scale farmng. Over the tall coconut trees, be sure to take a hammock to tie up and enjoy the sea breeze! Placencia Lobster Fest The Lobster Fest in Placencia began in 1998 as a way to celebrate the culture and traditional heritage of the Placencia Peninsula. It is also a fundraising event ... morefor the Placencia Village Council and the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association, where all proceeds from the festival go towards improving the local economy and providing scholarships for local youth. The event plays a major role in sustaining local businesses during the low tourism season. This is the second segment of the Belize Lobster Festival and usually hosts plenty of fun and lively entertainment, games and music.
2019 Placencia Lobster Fest The Placencia Lobster Fest is scheduled from June 21 to June 23 and is jam-packed with games, entertainment, live music, competitions, and lobster-themed dishes. Be sure not to miss favorites like Cast Net where players toss a fishing net to try and pull in a coin lying on the ground and Reel in the Dinghy where players must use a fishing rod to capture and then reel in dinghies floating offshore. There are also the popular Mr. and Mrs. Physique beauty contest, tug of war games, hot wings eating contests, kayak races, and tipsy tuna tosses.

Celebrated annually on November 19 throughout the country, the Garifuna community hosts street festivals, parades, cultural food sales and other traditional presentations in their location. The most popular locations for celebrating Garifuna Settlement Day are Hopkins, Placencia, and Dangriga.

Traditionally, the celebrations would open with a reenactment of the first arrival on dories along with lively drumming and singing. Following this would include a parade, the Miss Garifuna Pageant, and cultural presentations involving food, drinks, dances and art exhibitions.
