Adjustment to Entry Protocol for Tourists traveling in the Safe Corridor

By 9/29/2020

As we near October 1 and the reopening of the international airport, the entry protocols continue to be reviewed to ensure that the process is as efficient as possible for our visitors.  On this premise, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is pleased to provide the following update on the entry protocols for tourists entering Belize via the Safe Corridor, effective October 1st:
  • If a tourist arrives with a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of boarding the flight, they will be able to proceed to the "fast track" lane for expedited arrival processing.

  • Tourists arriving without a COVID-19 test will be swabbed at the airport but will continue to be processed through Immigration and Customs, and then exit the airport via the Safe Corridor using approved air or ground transportation. Visitors will receive their test results at their Gold Standard hotel via the Ministry of Health.
This adjustment will minimize processing time at the airport and will allow for a smoother and faster flow.  All employees working within the Safe Corridor are reminded to adhere to all Gold Standard safety protocols and operate as if though everyone is positive.
Should a passenger test positive, they will be required to quarantine at their Gold Standard hotel until the Ministry of Health gives them clearance.

Our expert guide, Jorge De ... moreLeon, from Lion Adventure Tours, takes us on this trip and gives us some travel tips for your next in-person visit to Caracol. In AD 650, the urban area of Caracol had a radius of approximately 177 square kilometers. It boasts the tallest man-made structure in the country of Belize, and the city covered an area much larger than present-day Belize City (the largest metropolitan area in the country of Belize). At its peak, Caracol supported more than twice the modern city’s population. Caracol is a must-see, as it is one of the largest cities of the classic period and was in the middle of a power struggle with powerful cities like Tikal and Naranjo in Guatemala.
