Witzob Glamping Adventures has a base camp in Santa Elena/San Ignacio, Cayo and a 30 ft Gemini catamaran in Placencia. We offer the best of both worlds in one package, facilitating all your inland excursions while providing a luxurious 3-day, 2-night camping adventure to the islands and reefs of Belize.

This is a private campground, so you and your friends or family will be our only guests. We can accommodate up to 8 people. Our tree fort unit features a queen bed, two singles, and a private bathroom. We can also accommodate two tents (with space for 2 people each) in our palapa, set up on a deck with a thatched roof for protection from the sun and rain. There is power, fans, and a TV in the area for your comfort.

We have a fully equipped kitchen with all necessary cooking utensils, dishes/cutlery, a BBQ, and a mini fridge. Whether you prefer to cook your own meals or bring in takeout from a local restaurant, we provide everything you need to sit back, relax, and enjoy your dining experience.

Our common area amenities include:

A gas firepit
A dining room, kitchen, and lounge areas
A small living room area with TV
A hammock cabana with TV
A Mayan ball court where you can actually play.
Our island excursion lasts 3 days and 2 nights. We visit three different islands: Moho, King Lewey’s, and Rhythm Reef. We depart from Placencia at 9 AM, arriving between 12 and 1 PM at the island that will serve as our base camp. The base camp is determined the day before departure based on wind direction and speed, ensuring safe anchorage. Each island provides shelter from the wind depending on the wind’s angle.

Once at the island, we will have lunch while the crew sets up all the tents and camping gear, allowing you to relax and enjoy the island’s amenities. A shower is available so you can wash off the saltwater at the end of your day. We provide all cooking utensils, condiments, spices, oil, and butter. You bring your own meat, cheese, bread, and drinks, and we’ll supply coolers and ice to keep everything fresh.

While we can supply food and a cook, this option is more expensive.

After dinner, we’ll enjoy a beach bonfire. All islands are equipped with loungers, tables, and hammocks, ensuring comfort is never an issue.

On Day 2, we leave for one of the other two islands, where we will have lunch and enjoy snorkeling or swimming. The island is chosen based on wind direction. We return to our base camp island by 3 PM for another BBQ and bonfire.

Day 3 starts with breakfast while the crew packs up. We then head to the third island for lunch and a swim before returning to Placencia.

King Lewey’s offers a fantastic restaurant over the water, with reasonable food prices. An average entrée with drinks costs around $35–$50 BZ, depending on your order. The island also offers kayak and paddleboard rentals.

We also have a base camp in Santa Elena/San Ignacio with a tree fort glamping unit nestled among trees that attract the keel-billed toucan. These colorful birds are regular visitors, often seen right overhead. The unit includes a queen bed and two singles, one of which is located higher in the tree and requires access via a three-step ladder.

If you are staying at our base camp in Cayo before or after the sailing trip, you’ll enjoy several advantages. We use highly accurate weather apps that forecast conditions up to 7 days ahead. We do not require payment for the sailing portion until 7 days before departure, once we confirm favorable weather conditions. This flexibility allows you to reschedule your trip if necessary.

For example, one guest initially planned to sail at the beginning of her stay, but due to poor weather, we moved her sailing trip to the end, ensuring perfect conditions. This flexibility prevents the need to cancel or rearrange other activities or reservations. We work closely with local tour operators and guides to facilitate your inland tours and ensure everything aligns with your sailing days.

We’re happy to connect with you online and answer any questions. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Highly recommend!
Our guide Omar met as at the border and was phenomenal all day! He explained things about the area, its history, and the flora/fauna we saw. His sharp eyes picked out an anteater in the trees, as well as birds and monkeys we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. The tour went at our pace and all our questions were answered, even those that were somewhat obscure (e.g., what was the green vegetable in the pasta ... more salad at lunch). We also had the opportunity to explore some on our own. The comfortable, air conditioned van returned us to the border at the end of the day where Omar helped us through the process to return to Belize. It was a trip of a lifetime!

Fantastic
This tour was amazing. We were picked up promptly from our hotel, driven to the border and escorted through the immigration process where our guide, Omar, met us in Guatemala. The van was extremely clean and the air-conditioning was excellent. Omar took time to explain local sites and points of interest to us, and we were able to stop at a local shop where we could look over handmade items and eat ... more delicious local food/use the restroom. Tikal was extraordinary and Omar showed us local wildlife as we hiked through the site. He was personable and very knowledgeable. Lunch inside Tikal was excellent and was a lot of fun - they greeted us with cold towels before we ate, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Tikal with Kids
We took our kids, 5 and 7, across the boarder from Belize to see Tikal. The crossing was super easy. Our guide, Omar, who was waiting at customs for us between the two countries, was amazing. He was so patient with us and took us on many "short cuts" away from the masses, which also probably also helped shorten the walking for us a bit. This was much appreciated in the 40 degree heat with two kiddos ... more tagging along. He answered all of our questions with ease, pointed out so many amazing birds and flora species and even found a small group of quite howler monkeys hanging out in the trees above us. It was nice that for a portion we were able to wander at our leisure and the lunch at the end of the walk around was absolutely delicious. I'm so happy we were able to make this trip happen for our family!

Good day
It was good tour with a great guide. Tour was split between self explore and with guide. A little confusion with across the border communication as in when arriving and leaving, but no major issue. The lunch inside the park was nice, though it is really at the parking lot not in the park proper - we thought we might get to eat and then wander more, but that was not the case.

Tikal from Border
We drove to the Belize/Guatemala border. Parking is plentiful at the parking lot and safe. It was easy to get thru Belize customs where met our driver Elder. Elder accompanied us thru the border and drove us to a stop/store to pick up our guide Daniella. They are both very knowledgeable and kind. Elder waited for us at Tikal while Daniella toured with us. Had a good lunch then Elder drove us back ... more to the border. Perfect tour for us and very reasonable compared to other companies. Would definitely go with them again.

Good Trip but With Some Bumps
Overall, we really enjoyed our trip to Tikal. Crossing the border was easy and our guide in Guatemala was there to meet us. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of Tikal as well as being good at identifying the birds and wildlife we saw. There was a balanced amount of time with the guide and on our own at Tikal. It was an impressive site, and I’m so glad we decided to visit. All ... more in all we had a good trip, despite the bumps in our day. We had visited Xunantunich earlier in our stay in Belize (through a different company) and I’m very glad we did both, and that we did Xunantunich first. Tikal is much larger, but the experience at Xunantunich helped us understand what we were seeing at Tikal better.

TIKAL
The tour was very good, interesting and well paced. The lunch was excellent. My only complaint was that there was no transport waiting for us after returning to Belize. Our guide was in Guatemala and we didn't know what to do. After more that 20 minutes, transport arrived but by then we were exhausted and uncomfortable. I had a 7am pick up and got back at 6pm - an 11 hour day.

Great day at Tikal
This was a great tour. The Belize Ground Shuttle driver, Jerrod, was a joy on our early morning ride to the border. He got us through the Belizean side of the border. Omar met us on the Guatemalan side and answered several questions about the customs form. Omar and the driver, Ronny, were excellent throughout the day. Omar is very good at spotting birds in the tree canopy. We saw toucans, parrots, ... more and several red headed woodpeckers. A camera with a 500mm lens would have been wonderful but I don't want to carry it. Omar taught us a great deal about the temples and pyramids in Tikal. Climbing to the top of several is highly recommended. When we got back to Belize, Jerrod was waiting for us and quickly got us back to our accommodations.

Would have liked more time and more depth of info
There's a lot of great things I can add about the tour. The transportation was first class and the driver was very knowledgeable of the area and helpful with getting through the immigration process at the border. The food provided on-site is quite good with an adequate selection for most everyone. And of course, Tikal is an amazing site to visit and there's so much to talk about. I highly recommend ... more a visit. Our on-site guide was Nate. A nice guy with an interest in Maya mythology. But here's the rub, he sat in the shade while we independently explored the main plaza plus temple 4. I saw carvings and stucco reliefs on temple walls that I wanted to know more about, but Nate is sitting somewhere in the shade. He said all faces are Cha'ak, the rain god. Yet I saw some distinct differences that made me wonder if he was correct. For the late classic I can understand the preoccupation with Cha'ak due to the long-term drought. But one of the stucco reliefs was covered by a later wall, presumably prior to the drought. Ok, so I'm a Maya nerd which is likely an unusual guest for Nate to deal with. If you are a Maya nerd, Nate will probably come up short in your view as he did in mine.

Exceptional Tour
Omar was an exceptional tour guide. Not only did he know all about the history of the ruins and the paths in the park, he knew everyone there, including all of the plant species. He shared some Mayan and Guatemalan history on the drive and helped ensure a very smooth border crossing. This is well worth the price. We stayed at Cahal Pech resort and although it was in town there seems to be a festival ... more going on so music was blasting all night. I would not recommend staying here if anything is going on in town.

Cool trip - Tikal Tour
We (my 2 sons and me) had a great tour. There were 2 other guests from Canada (Hi Penny, Hi Marc) very nice team. Both drivers took us safely to Tikal. Omar was an awesome guide - I was having my long lens with me and Omar showed me 3 different birds incl. a Tucan - what a day! Tikal as such is also impressive and Omar told us quite a bit! Highly recommended!

The whole process was so easy and effortless thanks for Belizing.com. Maria was very responsive when I was asking questions regarding the tour and once it was booked, I immediately received a very detailed itinerary. The drive from San Ignacio to the Western Border was a quick 15-20 minute drive, then we switched vehicles on the Guatemala side. Omar was our tour guide and he was very informative and ... more went along with our pace. Tikal was a once in a lifetime experience and I would do it all over again. The lunch included in the tour was SO delicious. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had. I would recommend this tour to all of my friends and family. I felt safe the entire time.

Easy trip, great guide, brand new bus
Great trip, pick up at the hotel was appreciated, the bus from the border to Tikal was a brand new Toyota 12 seater with cold AC. The lunch was three courses and very good, our guide Noel was fantastic, for the price it was amazing. One thing to keep in mind is that they don’t provide water, but it wasn’t an issue. Bring 4L to Tikal minimum.

Me and partner took a quick 10min van from San Ignacio to the border crossing. Marco met us at the Guatemalan border once we passed through the Belize customs and we set off on our journey to Tikal. He was also very passionate about the wildlife and even helped us to see Tucans which was a bucket list item for ... more us! The ruins were incredible and I would highly recommend this trip and Marco as the guide!

Tikal with TikalGo
We chose to see Tikal with TikalGo and what an excellent company they are! Our guide was Noel. We drove ourselves to the border, went through Belize immigration without a hitch (bring $20/person for everyone over the age of 12 for the exit fee if the tour doesn’t include it). Noel met us after that and showed us where to cross the Guatemala border. There was only our family of 3 and another person, ... more so it was almost a private tour. The van was clean and comfortable, the AC cold, and Noel told us many interesting tidbits about his country. He clearly loves Guatemala and was a wealth of knowledge. We stopped on the way for some coffee and a bathroom break. Tikal was exceptional, an amazing site that we were grateful to be able to witness. The tour was a combination, guided and personal time to climb certain Temples and look around. It was a hot and long day, but was worth it. We had a tasty lunch that was included (apart from the drinks), and on the way back even saw some howler and spider monkeys. We drove back and made it to our lodgings earlier than expected, since there were only 4 of us on the tour and everything went smoothly. We went through immigration quick and made it to our car that was safely left in the parking lot. Thank you Noel, the driver, and TikalGo for a memorable day!

Man, Omar was an absolute wealth of information and a pleasure to spend the day with. My family and I had an amazing trip to Tikal with Omar as our host. We had great conversations to, from, and during the guided tour. He truly loves his job and it shows which makes all the difference. He taught us so much about Mayan culture, Guatemalan culture, and the natural world surrounding us on our hike. Since ... more I brought my camera and showed an interest in local flora and fauna, he sought out birds and wildlife such as the keel billed toucan and white chested parrots while navigating the jungle trails. We learned so much and saw the main highlights during our day trip, such as temples 1,2,3, acropolis, necropolis, and pyramids. I’d love to go back in the future and spend several days there seeing everything else with Omar as our guide. We brought our sons (5 and 7) and it was a fair bit of walking and climbing but they did great. I tracked my distance using the Garmin phenix 6 which clocked us at 6.25 miles in total. The lunch at the restaurant was absolutely delicious as well. Highly recommend the beef, it may have been the most tender steak i’ve ever had. Everything was delicious.

Great Day Trip to Tikal
We met our guide after we went through the Belize side of the border, and he walked us through the Guatemala side to start our tour. Omar was a great guide, and we had a tremendous time. Highly recommend!

Expectations exceeded!
This trip was excellent! We met in downtown San Ignacio and took the short trip to the border in a sprinter-van style vehicle. The border crossing was very easy, even with our young kids (ages 7 & 9). Our guide met us at the door in Guatemala and we rode to Tikal in another very comfortable van. Our guide was so knowledgeable and did a great job answering all of my son's questions. Lunch at the restaurant ... more in the park was delicious, although it came at the end of the tour so eat a big breakfast or bring some snacks for the kids along the way. This trip exceeded our expectations and was so smooth and fun!

Very Informative Tikal Tour
Our guide Noel, who met us at the Guatemalan side of the border, was not only very knowledgeable about Mayan culture and the Tikal ruins, but also told us about recent Guatemalan history and economy. Overall a very informative tour.

Yumee was amazing!
The entire day went smoothly and was such a lovely experience. We were able to learn so much and experience the Tikal park with someone who clearly knew her stuff. Yumee was the best tour guide we could have hoped for-I've been on many tours, but her knowledge and perspective of life in Mayan times and life in Guatemala today was incredible-the best yet. Thank you so much for answering all of our ... more wild/sometimes silly questions. The park and ruins themselves were fascinating as was the wildlife all around the park. Lunch was also delicious (there was a very yummy vegan option) and the drive/border crossing easy. All in all, excellent experience all around.

TikalGo Tour
My husband and I really enjoyed the tour of Tikal. Christian met us at the Belize-Guatemala border and we were driven through the beautiful countryside of Guatemala to Tikal (just over an hour drive). Once at Tikal, two more joined us, and Christian shared the history and highlights of the sites as they related to the Mayan civilization. I appreciated that we had time to explore independently while ... more also having the benefit of a knowledgeable guide. I was surprised as the quality and experience of lunch--it was a genuine and delicious three-course sit-down meal!

Did they meet you on the Belize side of the border, help you get through over to Guatemala? I'm worried I have to get myself through the border.

Our driver on the Belize side dropped us off at the border and explained the process to us. We independently walked into the Belize immigration area, paid the fee, showed our passports and vaccine cards, and then walked across the border to the Guatemalan side, where we again showed our passports and vaccine cards. Masks were required in the Guatemalan immigration area at the time (early July 2022). ... more My husband and I were not accompanied by the tour guides during the actual border crossing process through Customs/Immigration. Christian from TikalGo then met us immediately after exiting the gated area. On the return, Christian accompanied us to the gate on the Guatemalan side, and explained what to expect for the return (showing passports/vaccines again). Our driver was then waiting for us on the Belize side.

Tikal Day Trip with TikalGo
What an amazing experience! Eduardo is an excellent guide! He is friendly, knowledgeable, and did not rush us through Tikal as some tours do. He allowed us to experience the ruins at our own pace. Not only does he know about the Mayan culture and the site but he was excellent at spotting birds and other animals. Our driver was also courteous and vigilant while avoiding the stray dogs in Guatemala. ... more 5 stars!
