Description
This amazing combo combines both an incredible cave and the ever popular Xunantunich into one action-packed day. The cave is, in fact, two incredible locations brimming with evidence of the ancient Maya. It is a 20-minute trek to the entrance through a lush tropical jungle. At the cave entrance, you are equipped with your helmet and light for a trip into the underworld.

You will enter a rugged first chamber that leads into several small side chambers before climbing up a rock fall to another chamber full of cave formations and ancient ceramics. After exploring the third chamber, you climb towards a natural skylight where the ancient Maya also performed many rituals. After a short break, you then begin the 1.5 treks back to the cave entrance. Following lunch at a local restaurant, you then continue to the ever popular Xunantunich before heading back to your San Ignacio hotel.

You must be reasonably able to walk and trek for 3-4 hours to do this tour.

Great Experience!
It was my first time hearing about Actun Chapat Cave and I'm glad that I was able to explore this magnificent cave with St. Leonard's Tours. Our guides, Mr. Rodolfo, Elias and Shanice were awesome! This is a must-do when you're in the Cayo District!
