In this virtual experience, we traveled through the trails of ancient Maya village squares in the outskirts of San Jose Succotz and explored one of Belize’s largest ancient Maya cities, Xunantunich, with Rodolfo Juan and Carla Juan, the dynamic duo from St. Leonards Tours. Xunantunich Archaeological Site is a popular attraction for many travelers. It features the El Castillo Temple, the second-largest man-made structure in Belize at 130 feet from the plaza floor, and the largest Maya tomb ever found in Belize!

Join us for a journey into the history of western Belize in the days of the Ancient Maya. A quiet riverside trail will take you to the village of San Jose Succotz where you will cross the Mopan River by a hand-cranked ferry. Along the way, you will learn how the local Maya lives. Then, you will visit the world-renowned Xunantunich Maya temples and learn about its history and importance in the region. Carla and Rodolfo both share a passion for nature, tour guiding, and horseback riding. They are the best guides to take you on this journey!
