Placencia Lobster Fest The Lobster Fest in Placencia began in 1998 as a way to celebrate the culture and traditional heritage of the Placencia Peninsula. It is also a fundraising event ... morefor the Placencia Village Council and the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association, where all proceeds from the festival go towards improving the local economy and providing scholarships for local youth. The event plays a major role in sustaining local businesses during the low tourism season. This is the second segment of the Belize Lobster Festival and usually hosts plenty of fun and lively entertainment, games and music.
2023 Placencia Lobster Fest The Placencia Lobster Fest is scheduled from July 14-16 and is jam-packed with games, entertainment, live music, competitions, and lobster-themed dishes. Be sure not to miss favorites like Cast Net where players toss a fishing net to try and pull in a coin lying on the ground and Reel in the Dinghy where players must use a fishing rod to capture and then reel in dinghies floating offshore. There are also the popular Mr. and Mrs. Physique beauty contest, tug of war games, hot wings eating contests, kayak races, and tipsy tuna tosses.

Allison Chaney from Bootcamp Digital will be both the keynote speaker and a workshop coordinator at the Summit.

Sergio Pajaro is an Account Manager from Google and will be speaking in the Digital Marketing segment.

Elizabeth Grabek is the Vice President of Space 150, a digital agency with a brand voice like no other, and will be speaking on "Bringing Humanity to Digital Experiences."

Melissa Byers from Bootcamp Digital will be speaking on "Writing Copy that sells."

Kristin F. Simmons, a social media guru, will be teaching the audience about Instagram.

Costa Maya International Festival The Costa Maya International Festival has grown to be one of Belize’s largest and most anticipated cultural events. Annually, it is held in the Town ... moreof San Pedro in August. This celebration is a three-day event, usually held on at the end of a week, that comprises of live music and entertainment, cultural performances from the region’s top acts, traditional and fusion cuisines and treats, games, and the infamous Miss Costa Maya International pageant. The goal of the festival is to continue promoting the culture of the Mundo Maya countries with their folklore dances, music, and food, while promoting tourism in the island of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize.

The festival kicks off with the election and coronation of Miss Costa Maya International. Contestants from all over Central America, where the Maya population once thrived, compete for the coveted title and crown. After the crowning, officials and foreign diplomats formally announce the opening of the Costa Maya Festival.

The celebrations carry on for the weekend with seafood cookouts, mechanical rides, games, football marathons, parades, and international musical presentations. There is a cultural event of “Noche International,” where some of the top bands in the Latino world perform on stage. The Costa Maya Festival traditionally concludes with other cultural shows, live music and entertainment, food, and dances from participating countries.
