San Pedro Lobster Fest

Lobster Fest officially kicks off in San Pedro around mid-June to the end of the month, San Pedro hosts a week-long event that ranges from live concerts, block parties, food tastings, and other activities. The Lobster Fest in San Pedro is the largest celebration for Lobster Fest.

Usually, you are given a Lobster Crawl Passport that outlines the full schedule of events that will happen. Using this, you will be collecting stamps from each event and participate in a raffle to win prizes. The passport should be submitted at the block party happening at Barrier Reef Drive.

2019 San Pedro Lobster Fest

The 2018 San Pedro Lobster Fest is the first segment of the nationwide Lobster Festival that is held annually in Belize to open the lobster season. This year’s grand prize for this raffle is yet to be announced.

How to get to the 2019 San Pedro Lobster Fest?

You can get to Caye Caulker by water taxi with San Pedro Belize Express or Ocean Ferry, or you can get there by flight with Tropic Air or Maya Island Air. If you are already on the island, then you can move around in a golf cart rental.

First, we stop at Mexico Rocks, a coral patch between the reef and the shores of Ambergris Caye, where you begin a snorkeling experience you won't forget. Snorkeling here is mainly boasted by the magnificent boulder formations of Brain Corals, Elk Horns and Great Star Corals that provide shelter for the tropical fishes and critters. Some of them include spiny lobsters, yellowtail snappers, and stingrays. A cave looking like a path is also found here where you will find hundreds of baby snappers starring at you while you glide over them.

Next spot on this trip is “Dos Cocos”, which was called and is still recognized as “Tres Cocos”. A name derived by the secret location of this rich area of corals found inside the Barrier Reef. Here you will encounter even more tropical fishes and critters such as angelfish, grunts, fairy basslet, butterfly fish, and spider crabs. You will also find few clusters of elk horns and brain corals.
