Getting There:  Tour departs San Ignacio Town at 8:00 AM. You'll embark on our journey out of San Ignacio on a 1 hour & 15 minutes’ drive along the George Price Highway (paved ... moreroad) until arriving at the junction of the Jaguar Paw Cave Tubing outpost. The site’s parking lot is another 10 minutes or so on from the paved road.

At the site:
Make use of the expansive restroom complex to change into your swimwear. Your guide then walks you over to the tube racks where you’ll pick a tube of your choice. You will be provided with life jackets, helmets, and headlamps.

Geared up, you will embark on a 45 minutes’ hike across the clear green Caves Branch River. A rope at the crossing keeps you from straying. The water is waist-deep, normally. After the river crossing, you'll hike a jungle trail heading upstream. Your guide will point out interesting aspects of the local flora & fauna as you trek through – a perfect time to take out your cameras (preferably waterproof).

After a briefing on the proper safety techniques, you'll set afloat through a series of caverns which periodically open up to the sunshine & jungle. Your guide will occasionally point out various Maya artifacts within the crevices of the caves. Depending on time availability, he may allow you to disembark your tube & walk up for a closer look into hidden chambers of the cave which are normally not explored by many other companies or cruise ship passengers due to time constraints.

Departure:
After Lunch, you'll walk back to the parking lot where you'll board the vehicle and head back to San Ignacio via the George Price Highway, arriving around 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

CAVE TUBING TOURS Feel like you are in a real-life Indiana Jones movie as you float back in time through prehistoric caves filled with ancient crystal formations and even human artifacts ... morefrom centuries past. Enjoy a physically relaxing, mentally/visually exciting, trip along a gentle flowing jungle river as you tube in and out of various cave passageways in the Caves Branch River system at the Nohoch Che'en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve.

We make our way on the Western Highway for an approximately 1-hour drive and then along a dirt road for about 30 minutes. On our arrival at the Caves Branch site, we gear up with helmets, waterproof headlamps, and of course, our inner tubes. We take a flat hiking trail through the jungle for about 45 minutes before entering one of the many cave entrances and passages that make up the cave system.

We hop in the water in our tubes and float toward the first of two cave passages. The river meanders in and out of the caves system and we are carried along by its current to another world. Floating downstream through the cave passages we learn about the geology and ancient history of the limestone cave system. We also learn about the Mayan culture, the indigenous inhabitants of the area who used the caves for ceremonial purposes for thousands of years.

There is an opportunity to stop for a snack and swim in a beautiful natural swimming hole, before continuing through the last of the passages, the most active of the three caves. Here you can view amazing cave formations and see colonies of bats that call the cave home. At the exit of the last cave, we have a 20-minute river float through lush rainforest that leads us back to the parking area. We then have a homemade picnic lunch before driving back to San Ignacio. For the best in a cave, tubing adventures join us at MayaWalk!

Let us take you on a journey back to the age of the pre-Columbians, an age where these Mesoamerican regions were once tamed by the Mayans. Among these regions, on the native ridges ... moreof Belize, you can embark on an exploration of Mayan Ruins and cave systems on one single tour.

Just about 80 miles west of Belize City, endures Xunantunich, an Ancient Maya archaeological site that majestically stands at the summit of a mountain giving a dominant view of the entire site and region.

The Mayans made use of the land and it’s terrains, as they did so above the surface they also did so below the surface. The Mayans believed that the caves were an entrance to Xibalba “a place of fear” related to death. It is completely so because the Mayans used the caves to perform death rituals and also the river flowing through these caves provided a secret passageway to ambush enemies.

Which brings us to your next stop of the trip, Cave Tubing into a cave system at Caves Branch. Inside the caves, you will encounter remains of ancient artifacts, tools and also secret chambers.

The tour offers a complimentary hour & 30 minutes Water Taxi transfer to Belize City in which you will journey along Caye Caulker, Caye Chapel, mangroves and enjoy a glimpse of St. George’s Caye before arriving the commercial City of Belize where you will meet your tour guide.
