The name of the city derives from the Mayan for “blue-green water”. It is a notable survival of a Classic period place name into the modern day.
The Yaxha kingdom is estimated to have covered an area of 237 square kilometers (92 sq mi) and to have had a peak population of 42,000 in the Late Classic period. The Yaxhá-Nakum-Naranjo circle is considered the “best-kept secret of the Maya World”, it covers a total area of 37.160ha and is part of the Reserve Maya Biosphere. To the west is the Tikal National Park, and north is the Biological Corridor Tikal-Mirador-Rio Azul. Arrival at the Interpretation Centre Yaxhá.

Your adventure begins with a safety briefing from the first mate. Next, you will be secured in a life jacket and safety harness as you are instructed on how and when to move to the flight deck. After the chute is launched the first mate will attach the passenger bar to the chute and call you to the deck. You will stand as your harness is attached to the bar and then move forward and sit with your legs in front of you. And finally, …you’re flying! You will ascend slowly and smoothly as the captain guides you over the beautiful turquoise waters inside the barrier reef. Our certified crew has been trained by US experts to meet all US safety standards.

Offshore fishing is one of my favorite types of fishing. Although the fishing can sometimes be slow, once you find the fish it is guaranteed that it will give you a good fight. For ... morethis type of fishing, we target mainly dorado, tuna, mackerel, wahoo, sailfish, and marlin. We can fish from a mile and a half away from shore to ten miles in search of fish. Your captain will take you to his favorite spot for your chance at catching snapper, grouper, barracuda, lionfish, lobster (seasonal), and conch (seasonal). After snorkeling, you’ll get on board and your guide will whisk you away to a private island where you will be able to cook your fresh catch!
