Top Hopkins Area Tour *seasonal tour* (Mid December to May) Head out on the 5-minute boat ride to Anderson Lagoon on the Sittee River. The night sky is UNBELIEVABLE. ... more

Thick with stars all the way down to the tree line. Using high powered flashlights to spot the eyeshine of crocodiles, kinkajou, coatimundi, raccoons, birds, resting iguanas, and much more!

Go through the tiny cut to the lagoon and you are surrounded by the giant mangroves and then shoot out into the lagoon which boasts bioluminescent plankton that lights up with any disturbance in the water.

It’s pitch black, the guide’s flashlight beam cutting across the lagoon is the only light and then he turns it off, the boat picks up speed and the wake glows to blue light. As the boat picks up more speed, the tiny algae, which settle in the lagoon during the dry season, get agitated and glow. It’s absolutely unbelievable.

Our guide will stop the boat and you just stare into the water. Schools of fish or any marine life swimming through the lagoon create a phosphorescent trail which can look like a glowing cloud in the water. Hundreds of jellyfish pulsating in the water. They feed on the algae – it’s all along their edges and inside them.

Just moving your hand around in the water is miraculous. You leave aqua blue glowing blue bubbles.

A swim in these waters is almost irresistible so we recommend you wear your swimwear and bring along a towel.

Set out after dark to explore the beautiful and peaceful Sittee River under a sky full of stars. Belize has many nocturnal creatures that come out after dark to the riverside to eat ... moreand drink from the river. Use high powered flashlights to spot the eyeshine of crocodiles, kinkajou, coatimundi, raccoons, birds, resting iguanas, and much more!

The second half of this tour involves cruising through a hand cut path from the river into the mangroves where you can spot resting bats on the sides of the trees and then out into the Anderson's Lagoon which boasts bioluminescent plankton that lights up with any disturbance in the water. It is magical to see fish darting away from predators and the boat as you cruise along. The water also glows behind the boat as the prop wash activates the chemical reaction which causes the plankton to light up. This is so interesting and intriguing to visitors that a swim in these waters is almost irresistable so wear your swim wear and bring along a towel. Also you may want to wear long pants and sleeves or bring a can of insect repellent for before and after the tour as there may be biting insects at the dock.

This tour is seasonal and affected by rainfall and the moonlight so we only schedule during optimal viewing times. We want to offer the highest quality experience at great value.

Silk Cayes, also known as Queen Cayes, are a group of picture card perfect small coral islands ranging in size from a half to 4 acres. Located just inside the Belize Barrier Reef, ... moreSilk Cayes have beautiful white beaches surrounded by turquoise seas and are occupied by about a dozen coconut trees!
Silk Cayes are part of a marine reserve established to protect the outer reef and cayes and have an abundance of aquatic life, fish stocks, coral reef biodiversity and healthy corals.
A typical day snorkelling includes a briefing by the park rangers before your licenced snorkel guide leads you into the water to take you on a tour of the abundant and varied coral and to meet the local residents. If you have not snorkelled before, no problem. Our guides are happy to show you the ins and outs of snorkelling and show you the coral and those who inhabit it. Critters include spotted drum, huge lobsters, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs, snapper, barracuda and more varieties of reef fish than you can count.
Around mid-day you’ll enjoy an authentic Belize style picnic lunch. Often divers go out on the same boat and they join the snorkelers for lunch. This makes Silk Cayes a great destination for families or couples when some are divers and some are snorkelers.
After lunch, head back into the water to explore the coral and meet more of the denizens who make Silk Cayes their home.
But the best is still to come! After the second snorkel expedition and the divers return to the caye, we all head to a spot just inside the barrier reef where local fishermen clean their catch and where you are almost certain to have the opportunity to snorkel with huge turtles, rays, and sharks. Here is your chance for a great nose to nose photo with a very large turtle.

In the Gladden Spit Silk Cayes Marine Reserve there are 3 small islands called the Silk (or Queen) Cayes. Around these islands and in the reserve one can snorkel for days and not get ... morebored, but there is one spot in particular that we like to call Turtle Alley. Here huge loggerhead turtles come up to stare you in the face, stingrays zoom by and nurse sharks cruise around the bottom, all safe and harmless, unless provoked. These critters hang out in the area waiting for scraps of food which is, most time the unwanted parts of lobsters, fish, and conch, that fishermen catch and clean in the area. They toss the scraps in the water and it makes for a yummy dinner for the critters.

Tour starts in Placencia Village at our private dock. Here you will meet up with your boat crew, get checked in and fitted with gear, we load up on the boat which we already prepped and ready to go after the captain gives a safety briefing. The boat ride is about an hour out to sea. After the boat ride we get ashore the southernmost Silk Cayes, meet the park ranger as he gives us a briefing about the history and the do's and dont's of the park system. Your snorkel guides then steps in and share about the first snorkeling adventure that will be around the island for about an hour. Once done you get to enjoy a beach lunch which is usually a beach BBQ. Then we relax on the beach a bit and let the tummies settle. When the group is ready we get in the boat and we do a boat snorkel around a patch reef which will lead up to the area we call "Turtle Alley" and here is where you get to meet the fun critters, LoggerHead Turtles, Nurse Sharks, Stingrays, and Eagle Rays. We enjoy some encounters with them the get onboard the boat via a provided ladder. When everyone is accounted for we head on back to Placencia as we reminisce on the day of adventure.

Belize Garifuna Cultural Tour The Garifuna make up just 8% of Belize’s population, but their unique culture has been recognized by the United Nation for its language, music, ... moreand dance. After a failed uprising against the British, the Garifuna fled to the shores of Belize.

This tour takes participants to the village of Hopkins situated on the beautiful Caribbean coast of southeastern Belize. Participants will don traditional Garifuna clothing while learning about life in this traditional village and the history of the Garifuna people.

Participants will also work together to gather the ingredients and then cook a traditional Garifuna dish known as hudut. Hudut is the Garifuna variant of a coconut fish stew, cooking local fish in a creamy coconut milk mixture and then served with a side of delicious boiled plantains.

Following the meal, participants will enjoy a performance of Garifuna drumming and then learn to play several traditional Garifuna rhythms.
